Local Police with confiscated whiskey/Leaksville, North Carolina - ca. 1923

   

Whiskey making was big business in Franklin County, and In 1918 Charlie went partners with a local moonshiner named Homer Philpott.
Poole cleared more than a thousand dollars from the enterprise and used some of the profits to buy himself
a real banjo - an Orpheum #3 Special, for over $130.
